There’s been a lot of talk about real estate in the city of Detroit as of late.

But a nearby Wayne County suburb is one of the 10 hottest zip codes in America according to Realtor.com.

Coming in the number two spot, the 48154 in Livonia.

It’s located east and north of the junction of I-96 and I-275.

It’s also home to a lot of millennial folks, a group that’s often talked about as desirable for future housing.

Realtor.com says it’s proximity to things (they say it’s a 30 minute drive to the city, but Google Maps puts it at more like 20 on a good day) in the city of Detroit, like the Detroit Institute of Arts, the historic Eastern Market commercial district and the homes of four professional sports teams as well a central location for getting to employers are in it’s favor.

An interesting statistic is that more than 86 percent of millennials living in the ZIP own their own homes, compared to only 44 percent in the surrounding county.

As far as being on the market, according to Realtor.com data, homes in Livonia sell in 21 days, 25% more quickly than last year, with a median list price of $223,780, up 12.3 percent over last year.

There’s also good news for the county as a whole. Wayne County is expected to add 7,000 jobs this year, an increase of one percent.

A second Michigan zip made it to the list as well. Kentwood’s 49548 came in at number three, thanks to the high growth of the Grand Rapids area as of late. It also is a place that millenials are choosing, according to Realtor.com

The hottest zip in the nation, if you were curious, is 76148 in Watauga, Texas. Here’s the full list.
