Ready to scour downtown Detroit for the chance to win two suite tickets to the Detroit Grand Prix (plus other awesome prizes)? Here’s your chance.

At 10:00 a.m. on April 16, Shell and the Detroit Metro Convention and Visitors Bureau will host a scavenger hunt in downtown. The grand prize will be hidden downtown, and all you have to do is follow a series of clues leading to Detroit landmarks and be the first person to open the car and grab the certificate located inside it to win.

The scavenger hunt is an individual event, so there won’t be any teams. However, participants are welcome to bring friends and family to help them during event. Only one lucky winner will receive the VIP Eco-marathon prize package, which includes:

  • Two suite tickets to the Detroit Grand Prix
  • A Hot Lap Ride-a-long for two on the Grand Prix track
  • Two round trip Delta flights anywhere in the continental US
  • $500 of Shell V-Power NiTRO+ Premium Gasoline
  • A year’s supply of lubricants for your vehicle
  • Participation in the Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2016 Closing Ceremony
  • Being a guest presenter for Shell Truck Challenge prizes at Shell Eco-marathon Americas 2016
  • Limited Edition Indy500 Pit Shirt

There will be drawings after the event for all participants. Prizes will range from Detroit Tigers tickets to Shell gas cards to Indy500 memorabilia. All participants who complete the scavenger hunt will receive a t-shirt and another special prize.

Interested in competing for the VIP package? Register here, and do it soon. Registration closes at 11:59 p.m. on April 12.

On the day of the event, April 16, participants will need to arrive at the Cobo Center at least 30 minutes before 10:00 a.m to get checked in and briefed on the arrangements and schedule for the day.

Event organizers will review the rules with all Hunters 15 minutes before the hunt starts. At that time, Hunters will be given an envelope with their first clue. It’s up to each Hunter to decide how to solve each clue and what routes they want to take during the games.

Hunters are able to use smartphones, call friends, or use any other means to solve the clues except following other Hunters. To prepare for the hunt, participants should brush up on Detroit’s history, so hit the books. Or Google.

All the sites in the hunt are in Downtown Detroit and either within walking distance or accessible by the People Mover. Each individual will receive 10 People Mover tokens for the event.

Hunters find each site by solving a clue. An event representative will be stationed at each site near a yellow balloon. After finding the site, Hunters will receive a sticker from the representative after answering a question.

Sound like fun? Register here, grab your history buff friends, and test your knowledge of Detroit’s past.

Be sure to check out the Shell Eco-marathon Americas from April 22-24. The competition happens at the Cobo Center and is free and open to the public. During the eco-marathon, high school and college students from around the world compete to determine which team created the most energy-efficient car.
