Six of Detroit’s neighborhoods will be receiving a new mural this weekend as part of the Small Business Murals Project.

The project pairs a local artist with a small business and together they collaborate to create a mural. Each mural will reflect the business, neighborhood, and artist’s style.

“I love the collaboration of this project. You’ve got entrepreneurs, artists and creative people working together to make amazing things happen,” said Dante Williams, Owner/Manager of Cutz Lounge The Grooming Shop. “As a community, we’re really creating synergy and capturing the essence of Detroit.”

The artists are currently working on the murals now. Over the weekend there will be 150 volunteers from all of the Quicken companies to help on the murals.

All six murals are schedule to be finished by Sunday, May 21 just in time for Startup Week.

The project is a partnership between the Quicken Loans Family of Companies and 1xRUN. If 1xRUN sounds familiar it is because they are the producer of Murals in the Market. All of the entrepreneurs joining in the Small Business Murals project are graduates of local entrepreneurial training/development programs: BUILD Institute, Lifeline, and ProsperUs. Quicken Loans is a funder for each of these programs.
