Across from Hockeytown Cafe and inside Detroit’s historic Fox Theatre office building will open a new Starbucks, according to a media advisory from Olympia Development.

The 3,000 square foot corner retail space was formerly a Johnny Rockets. To be honest, this makes sense as a Starbucks is exactly the kind of place that the mostly suburban employees of Little Caesars and associated companies would frequent.

The third standalone Starbucks location on what they’re calling the “Woodward Corridor” plans to be open later this year, but a hard date wasn’t given.

In other coffee news…

Now that I have your attention with a big name, I’d also mention that the independent Fourteen East is in the process of moving from the Park Shelton and setting up in the Mike Ilitch School of Business building, also in the District Detroit area but on the other side of the arena and freeway from the Starbucks.

Fourteen East aims to be ready to sling caffeine in December.
