The chatter around Eminem’s anticipated new record continues, this time with a quote from an interview on Uproxx with Allen Hughes, the director of “The Defiant Ones,” a four-part HBO documentary.

Here’s what Hughes had to say that fuels the speculation of an upcoming album. Fans haven’t seen an Eminem studio album since “The Marshall Mathers LP 2” in 2013.

Dre still records. People don’t know this: Dre records every day. Literally, he’s in there recording songs every day. He’s like Picasso in that way. He’s always painting. Right now he’s producing, in the 11th hour, a track for Eminem’s latest album. So Dre’s still real active in music, you know? But I hear what you’re saying. It’s the truth.

This, along with a sighting earlier this year in Ferndale near the recording studio Eminem owns as well as an interview with 2 Chainz, where he talks about getting in the studio with the Detroit area native artist, is fueling more intense speculation.

“That’s how I know I can rap. He didn’t want to talk about nothin’ but rap. That was a great phone call to get,” said 2 Chainz in the interview above about working with Eminem. The interview portion about Eminem starts about 17m 30s in.

“And so when we first went in, he kinda talked about.. he let me hear the song. And it was funny, I heard some things where his vernacular was 2 Chainsy … Eminem don’t even do ad libs. This is crazy. So when I heard the hook, I know it was going to be hard to change it up.”

As of this writing, there has been no official confirmation of the new album from Dre, Eminem or Shady Records. But with each piece of information that comes out, the signs keep pointing to “yes” for a new album.
