On the latest show, we air an overdue remembrance and tribute to John Thompson, a quintessential Detroiter and giant of a human being who was the original owner of legendary watering hole Honest?John’s.

Close observers will note that Thompson passed away last months and we are late to the game. That’s true. This segment got lost in the shuffle, and we’re a small and often overburdened team. But we still felt strongly that we needed to eulogize him.

Also today:

  • The Detroit Lions announced their first two home games will be without fans
  • The state’s request for an extra $300 per week in additional unemployment benefits has been approved
  • Voting irregularities have been found in the city of Detroit’s Aug. 4 primary election results, per The Detroit News
  • And we discuss the fates of three upcoming festivals: Arts, Beats and Eats; The Detroit Jazz Festival; and the Michigan Renaissance Festival
