This week has been kind of crazy over here. But I’m ready to look ahead to the weekend.

Pietrzyk Pierogi Vegan Pop-Up at Lost River
Pietrzyk Pierogi is no stranger to popping up at Lost River over on the far East Side. But this Friday the menu will be something special. It’s going to be 100% vegan.
So, if you’re vegan and have a hankering for pierogi now you know where to go.
Here are some of the choices you will have if you find yourself at Lost River
That’s right…the O-G pierogi will be made with potato and vegan cashew butter.
Personally I’m intrigued by the Something Else pierogi. It will be filled with tumeric and curry potatoes, sun dried tomato, bing cherries, and brussels sprouts with miso.
Grab yourself a bowl of borscht while you’re at it.

Behind the Scenes: Sound Tour with the Detroit Sound Conservancy
If you love the musical legacy that Detroit has, then I have a tour for you.
The Detroit Sound Conservancy and Detroit Historical Society will be hosting a two-hour bus tour that will take you to some of the cities important musical sites.
One of the stops will be The Blue Bird Inn. It is an iconic jazz club where the you could have heard Miles Davis, John Coltraine, Kenny Burrell, and Donald Byrd back in the day.
Tickets to the tour are $40 per person, you can purchase them here.

Speaking Sicilianu Documentary Screening
This week is the Metro Detroit Italian Film Festival, and there is a documentary I wanted to point you to. It’s called “Speaking Sicilianu” by Nina Misuraca Ignaczak.
The documentary focuses on how Sicilians and Sicilian Americans try to preserve their language while assimilating through the world.
I know how hard Nina worked on the film, so I really want to celebrate the fact that it is being screened this weekend. If you can’t make it this week, you’re in luck because it’s being screened during the Freep Film Festival as well next week.
There is no entrance fee for the Italian Film Festival.

Danielle’s Sunday Brunch
I’m kind of hungry right now…so brunch sounds great.
Speaking brunch…there are only a few more Sunday brunches left before Danielle takes the summer off. So, I’m going to suggest you head over to the Two Way Inn for some brunch this Sunday.
Be sure to grab yourself a Bloody Mary and don’t forget to get there early because the food goes fast.

Words and Wine at The Royce
April is National Poetry Month, so it’s only fitting that I highlight a poetry event.
On Sunday The Royce will be holding its first ever Words and Wine event.
Come and enjoy the power of the spoken word. Guests can participate by sharing their favorite poem, prose or original piece of work.
The thing that makes this even better is that there will be wine. All of the wine. You can grab some food as well, but I’m there for the wine.
