Spring has sprung, everyone!
I don’t know about you but I am so happy that it is officially no longer winter. Bring on the warmer weather and flowers.
I am really looking forward to this weekend. There are so many cool things happening around town.

The Odd Couple
It’s opening weekend for the Park Players performance of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple…and you’re in luck because they have both the male and female renditions of the play.
I have always loved Simon’s work…so I’m pretty stoked for their performance. I would like to say I am like Florence…but really I’m an Olive.
Once you see the show, you’ll see what I’m talking about.
Anyway, the other thing that is cool about the performance is that it will actually be at the Redford Theatre. So, if you’re use to seeing your old school movies at the Redford this will be a change of pace for you.
Tickets for the play are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. You can purchase them here.
Evening performances Friday through Sunday will be at 8:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will both have a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m.

Women Who Empower: Activism
The Detroit Historical Museum is hosting its 3rd Annual “Women Who Empower” Day this Saturday, March 23 in honor of Women’s History Month.
The theme for this year is Activism. There will be two “Tea Talk” sessions in the afternoon.
And since it’s at the Detroit Historical Museum I’m sure there will be plenty of chances to see activism in Detroit throughout the ages.
Admission is free to the even as well as the museum.

Mildred Pierce at the Senate Theater
This Saturday would have been Joan Crawford’s birthday, so to celebrate the Senate Theater will be showing one of her best films Mildred Pierce.
Mildred Pierce is about a housewife who ends up creating a successful restaurant business after her husband leaves her for another woman. There’s a ton of drama between her and her daughter Veda…and over all it’s a stellar piece of work.
Crawford won a Best Actress Academy Award for her performance in the film.
I should also mention that Avalon Bakery will also be popping up before the movie to sell pie (both whole and by the slice) for you to enjoy while you watch the movie. Go get you some pie!

Tits & Giggles: A Comedy Burlesque Show
Looking for a bit of naughty comedy? Look no further than Tits & Giggles: A Comedy Burlesque Show at the Ant Hall this Saturday night.
The Ant Hall has been killing it in terms of shows I want to highlight this month.
There are a ton of great performers in the line up…but my favorite is and will always be Lushes Lamoan. What can I say, she’s an amazing performer and a personal friend of mine.

10th Annual Marche du Nain Rouge
Sure New Orleans has Mardi Gras…but we’ve got the Marche du Nain Rouge…the one day where everyone gets together and chases the nasty red devil out of town.
