Spring is just about here! There may be a few cold days left in Mother Nature, but it seems as if the worst is behind us. Here’s your five cool events as it warms up to check out in the D.

Friday the 13th– #313DLove – Starting with a 10 a.m. march from the Charles H. Wright Museum, it will be a day full of love and 15 speakers talking about Detroit from different angles. Tickets are $31.30, but everyone can participate at 3:13 p.m. when they will try to make the hashtag – #313DLove – go big on Twitter.

Friday the 13th– Detroit Day At Saint Andrew’s – Whereas the previous event in the list was marching and speakers, this is beats and sounds. Since 2013, it’s a day for celebrating Detroit’s hip hop artist community. The show that starts at 7 p.m. will be headlined by DeJ Loaf and Oba Rowland. Tickets are $20.

Saturday the 14th –  Thirst Wave Depeche Mode Tribute Night – Back by popular demand, the Thirst Wave Depeche Mode Tribute Night at Small’s in Hamtramck. DJs Pleasure Kitten, DJ Aaron Hingst, DJ Elektrosonik and special guest DJ Inno will be spinning New Wave, Retro Alternative, Dark ’80s, ’90s Alternative from 9p-2am, with a special emphasis on Depeche Mode’s musical catalog. Cost is free before 10 p.m. and $3 afterward.

Saturday the 14th & Sunday the 15th – SUNSTRUCK – This planetarium show at the Michigan Science Center premiering this weekend allows you to travel to the distant future to discover our sun’s connection to the universe’s cosmic cycle of life and death. Saturdays at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 4 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m and 4 p.m. Admission to the Science Center plus two tickets is $21; Members $4.

Sunday the 15th – Corktown Race and Parade – It’s one of the first events that truly highlights going outdoors and the weather should be great. The race, sponsored by the Fraternal Order of United Irishmen and Strategic Staffing Solutions, should bring about 10,000 people to Michigan Avenue. The parade is always absurd, and the revelry will go into the afternoon in the historic neighborhood of Corktown. Here are our pro tips for the day, in case you need them.
