Well Opening Day was a blast, the weather is warming, and Metro Detroit is bustling with activity. This week, there’s plenty of culture to go get with live music, art, performances and permutations of the two. There are so many great events around town we couldn’t just pick five – we had to add a bonus sixth. There’s a little something for everyone in this week’s City 5.

Friday and Saturday: Lotus @ Royal Oak Music Theatre – Lotus presents The #GildedAge Tour with special guests 4/10 – Zoogma, 4/11 – The Geek x Vrv, Late Night Radio.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Great Lakes Art Fair – The Great Lakes Art Fair is nearly here! Opening Friday, April 10 through Sunday April 12 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Explore more than 200 art booths, including the colorful work of Leif Sporck, Sporck Tileart of Suttons Bay. Remember Friday is Ladies Day, with half off admission from 1-8 pm courtesy of Carrabbas Italian Grill, Fox 2 and 100.3, WNIC–Parking is Free all weekend! Lets celebrate Spring together!

Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Golden Age of Broadway – Broadway’s “Phantom” Doug LaBrecque returns home to Michigan with co-star Lisa Vroman for a concert of Broadway showstoppers. With songs by Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Lerner and Lowe, and more, audiences will be sure to leave cheering!

Saturday: Mr. Carmack at Grasshopper Underground – The undisputed King of Future Trap/Soul will be making his first ever appearance in Michigan this weekend at the Grasshopper Underground in Ferndale.  His flawless beat productions will have you dancing nonstop and asking for more :).

Saturday: World Space Party: Detroit 2015 (ART X) – Witness the two-story Saturn V rocket and Space Shuttle models rumble to life and launch via projection-mapped animation by New D Media Arts, synchronized to an experimental DJ score featuring live performances by Audra Kubat at the Michigan Science Center in Detroit.

BONUS – Sunday: Sundays at Cafe 78 – Café 78 invites you to immerse yourself in a sumptuous brunch of beats, art, and pop-up shopping accompanied with live music by Monty Luke of 528 Crate.  The MOCAD gallery will also be open for viewing so you should definitely stop by and check out the new artwork.
