Help host Detroit’s annual motorsports festival and see the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix in a whole new way.

The Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix is a 501(c)3 organization and a subsidiary of the Downtown Detroit Partnership. The event will help kickoff summer with three days of racing, fun, and music from May 29-31 at the Raceway at Belle Isle Park street circuit.

The 2015 Grand Prix has an exciting lineup of events, including the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit with cars from the Verizon IndyCar Series, the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic, and the Cadillac V-Series Challenge.

Visitor attendance is expected to be well over 100,000 this year, so event organizers are looking for 1,100 Detroit Grand Prix Association (DGPA) volunteers to make the Grand Prix a success.

“Without question, our volunteers at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix are the best in the business. They are true ambassadors of our event and they are first ones to welcome people when they arrive at the Grand Prix and the last ones fans see on their way off the island,” said Bud Denker, Chairman of the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. “The DGPA members are some of the most dedicated, passionate and hard-working people I’ve ever encountered in motorsports and our goal is to have about 1,100 volunteers in place for race weekend to make sure this is the best Grand Prix yet.”

Volunteers are needed for several event areas, including:

  • Customer relations
  • Chalet services
  • Track services
  • Circuit marshals
  • Food services
  • Information booths
  • Ushers
  • Transportation/delivery services

Perks of Volunteering

DPGA members will get credentials for each day of the Grand Prix, a DGPA membership patch, lapel pin, an official DGPA volunteer uniform, and free off-island parking during race weekend. Volunteers also get access to pre- and post-event parties and lunch provided each day of the event.

Requirements

Volunteers must commit to at least 25 hours of service during the race weekend. The hours will be divided into shifts depending on the volunteer area.

Volunteers must also be members of the DGPA. To become a member of the DGPA and to volunteer for the 2015 Grand Prix, go to www.DetroitGP.com and click on the “Volunteer” link. Individuals must pay a $15 annual membership fee to be part of DGPA. Registration is currently open, so head over to the DGPA website and sign up to help Detroit start Summer with the Grand Prix.
