Whether or not you’re a fan of the hit Fox television show American Idol, if you’re a Michigander, you’ve may have heard the name Jena Irene Asciutto — and if you haven’t, you probably will soon.
The 19 year old singer/songwriter from Farmington Hills took American Idol’s season 13 by storm when she became the first female wild card contestant of the series to qualify into the finale, and just the second wild card contestant to make it into the finale.
While she ultimately lost in the final round, her raw talent and consistently high quality performances turned a lot of heads, including that of Kevin Nixon, the founder of the independent label Original 1265 Recordings and the Detroit Institute for Education, who singed her to a record deal late last year.
On Monday the label released a video for Irene’s first single of her post Idol career, for a song called, Unbreakable.
The video has already surpassed 4,000 views on YouTube and is showing no signs of stopping.
