Holy weirdness, y’all. Visual artist Nick Cave is about to rock our collective psyche.

Cave – not to be confused with the equally awesome musician – has garnered significant attention for his one of a kind art pieces, which he calls Soundsuits. These brightly colored and often mind bending works of art can live as both a masterful, static sculptures, or as a fully mobile piece which is worn and operated by dancers.

It’s hard to quantify exactly how cool these things are, but the video above should help resolve our moment of speechlessness.

Once you’ve watched it… Seriously, how awesome is that!?

You can see these beautiful beasts yourself beginning next Saturday, June 20, at the debut of Cave’s Here Hear show at the Cranbook Art Museum. It’s the first in a series events which will run until the end of the year.

The show also features two performances in July – Up Right Detroit and several of what Cave calls Dance Labs. Then, on September 26th, you can catch dozens of life-size horse sculptures manned by local high school students cruising through Detroit. Finally, the capstone performance titled, Figure This: Detroit, goes down at the Masonic Temple on October 4.

Be sure to check out this dynamic display of artistic prowess, and simultaneously get the the answer to the looming question of what’s been hiding under your bed all these years.
