The coney is sacred. We’ve written about how an artisanal coney might or might not go over well here, but in Brooklyn, it’s entirely possible.

Not only will you find the distinctive dogs, but takes on other Detroit favorites like flaming saganaki cheese and greek salads at Ed and Bev’s, a new fast casual diner in Crown Heights Brooklyn. The restaurant, from the video, looks a lot like some of the new places that have been popping up here.

Detroit native Kelly Dobkin of Zagat put the brisket-infused coney with a kick to the test, and watch the results.

We’d love to see Eli & Max Sussman, natives of Huntington Woods, bring their take on the coney to Detroit and put it to the test with non-food editor Detroiters, if even just for a pop-up.

So much so, consider it a friendly challenge from the Daily Detroit team, guys. Let’s put the Brooklyn take on our favorite to the test. Are you up for it next time you come in town?
