Norma G’s Cuisine is opening its first brick and mortar location in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood on Tuesday.

Owner and chef Lester Gouvia started Norma G’s as a food truck in 2015.

The Caribbean restaurant is the first sit-down, full service restaurant to open in the Jefferson-Chalmers neighborhood in 30 years.

The menu has dishes that reflect the different cultures that make up Caribbean cuisine like; chicken pelau, jerk chicken, curry goat, macaroni and cheese, and Trinidad-style potato salad.

In addition to food, there will be a bar that offers beer and liquor, including four specialty cocktails like Al’s Rum Punch and Norma’s Punch.

Norma’s G’s hours of operation are 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and 4:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Norma G’s is located at 14700 E. Jefferson Avenue in Detroit.
