Changes are coming for Comerica Bank locations in Detroit as part of a $3 million plan to “reshape” their presence in the city.
“The developments underway will spark further growth in Detroit’s economy and we’re proud to support that growth through these changes,” said Mike Ritchie, Comerica’s Michigan Market president.
If you bank at Comerica you might want to take a look at the locations that will be affected.
The biggest news is that the historic building at 201 W. Fort is for sale. There isn’t very much information about the sale, but the bank is currently looking for a new location nearby.
The branch location at West Grand Boulevard and Sterling will be sold to Henry Ford Health System to make way for a new Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion. The accounts from this location will be moved to the branch near the Fisher Building at 3011 W. Grand Boulevard.
Starting in April there will be a temporary drive-thru location at the corner of Lincoln and West Grand Boulevard. This location will offer a 24-hour ATM and two “Banker Connect” interactive teller-like machines.
There are plans to open a new office in the still to be built Third & Grand development on West Grand Boulevard and Third Streets.
In May, two banks will consolidate in Southwest Detroit as Comerica sold the location at Fort and Military to MDOT in preparation of the Gordie Howe International Bridge.
Lastly, Comerica will be opening a banking center inside the District Detroit, the area around the new Little Caesars Arena. There will also be Comerica ATMs throughout the District.
