DLECTRICITY To Delight Detroit This Weekend

Show notes

There’s everything from a 4-mile long lighted bike parade to more than 35 artists lighting up immense buildings like the Detroit Public Library. What more could you ask for?

Last year, about 75,000 people are said to have come to Midtown to enjoy a cavalcade of visual arts. It’s a time where Detroit feels like a super-dense major city, with throngs of people enjoying the displays and activities.

The concept of DLECTRICITY is a “Nuit Blanche,” or a night time arts festival. It’s a free event that’s extremely walkable. You’ll be able to park once and stroll pretty much wherever you’d want to go. Venues such as the Detroit Institute of Arts, College for Creative Studies, MOCAD, Detroit Public Library, Michigan Science Center, Sugar Hill Arts District and others will participate. It runs this Friday and Saturday night from 7 p.m. – midnight.

“We are committed to the vibrancy of our city’s neighborhoods. It will be thrilling to see Detroiters and visitors explore an illuminated Midtown full of public art and light showcasing our great city,” said Faye Alexander Nelson, who is DTE Energy’s Vice President of Public Affairs and President of the DTE Energy Foundation, which is the key sponsor.

So you don’t get lost, here’s a map of all the action which also include shuttle stops as well as the schedule here. If you want a taste of what you’ll see, we’ve included a video above. We’ll see you out there!
