Love it or hate it Valentine’s Day is next Tuesday. Hopefully you have already figured out what to do for Valentine’s Day, but if not we’ve got some ideas for you.

While I was compiling my list I noticed two distinct things. My list was made up of shopping and events.

Since Valentine’s Day falls in the middle of the week I wanted to add a few weekend options, just in case you can’t hang on a Tuesday night. (My husband and I usually do something on the weekend just because it is less crowded).

Let’s be honest you can’t meet up with your Valentine empty-handed. Flowers are beautiful, but I’m positive you would be able to find something really great at one of these shopping events.

Galentine’s Day at Green Daffodil — Ferndale

Green Daffodil in Ferndale is having a nice little Galentine’s Day shindig on Saturday, February 11 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

If you’re not familiar with what Galentine’s Day is, you need to check out episode 16 of seasons 2 and 6 of Parks and Recreation. Go ahead, I’ll wait until you watch both of them.

Grab your gal pals and head over to Green Daffodil to enjoy appetizers and cocktails while you shop. There will be three additional artists there from All American Canning Company, Marna McGlinn Ceramics, So Very Charming Jewelry. I also hear that there is a special limited edition candle from Green Daffodil.

I really love Green Daffodil. Not only do they make some great body care items, candles, and room mists but they also have a really cute store.

Green Daffodil is located at 624 Livernois Street Ferndale, Michigan 48220

p.s. – Just because it is called Galentine’s Day don’t think that this excludes guys. You’re more than welcome.

The dinner will be catered by Busy Clove Catering, and the menu sounds great. There is a choice of airline chicken with an apple beurre blanc or five-spiced salmon with a citrus beurre blanc. The sides are butternut risotto and roasted brussels sprouts with crispy mushrooms and tarragon.

To add to the romance of the evening there will also be Champagne and chocolates.

There are two things I love; old movies and the Detroit Orchestra Hall. Put them together and you have a great romantic evening.

This Valentine’s Day bring your sweetheart to Orchestra Hall to watch Casablanca while the DSO performs the score.

Tickets start at $40 and go up to $100. There are two Valentine’s Day packages that you can also purchase for the evening.

You can purchase tickets here.

Coneys By Candlelight — Detroit

Last month we posted about a romantic evening at American Coney Island.

Nothing says love like eating two coneys and splitting a plate of chili cheese fries.

The best part is that there is no reservations, so it’s not like you really need to plan ahead. Maybe you can make things more romantic by taking a night time stroll through Campus Martius and stopping at one of the Pure Detroit locations.

Grab your candle lit table between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

American Coney Island is located at 114 W Lafayette Boulevard Detroit, Michigan 48226

If you are looking for a few more choices for things to do for Valentine’s Day I suggest heading over to the Visit Detroit blog. They have some nice ideas over there.
