There will soon be one more dining option in Canton. Tom+Chee will be opening the third metro Detroit location on Friday, February 10. The restaurant specializes in tomato soup and fancy grilled cheese sandwiches.

The newest location will be located on Ford Road across the street from Ikea. The 2,400 square foot restaurant will be able to seat 68 people, plus up to 20 on the outdoor patio.

There are already two other locations in Troy and Northville. All three stores are owned by brothers Jim and Paul Cox.

“We love how Canton is a family-oriented community and we feel that Tom+Chee would be a great fit for the city,” said Jim Cox. “We look forward to bringing Tom+Chee to our hometown, and expanding our presence in greater Detroit.”

While the menu is staying the same (like the grilled cheese doughnut sandwich), there have been some improvements to some of the sandwiches. The Tom+Chee will now have a Parmesan crust and a balsamic reduction. The BBQ+Bacon sandwich will have more bacon and a sweet barbecue sauce added, and the Grilled Mac+Chee will come with bacon and onions.

There are some new additions to the menu including melts, salads, and sides. Some of the new additions are the Chicken Bacon Ranch Melt, The West of Philly, Chicken Caesar, BLT Ranch Salad, pasta salad, mac n’ cheese, and homemade pickles. They will also have doughnut bites and mozzarella bites that can be shared between two and four people.

Tom+Chee is a Cincinnati-based restaurant that was started in 2009. The restaurant was started by Trew Quackenbush and his wife Jennifer Quackenbush, and entrepreneur Corey Ward and his wife Jenny Rachford. What started out as a food tent next to an ice-skating rink has now expanded into 170 restaurants in 20 states.

Hours: Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
