Michiganders love our beer. It’s been a growing industry in our state, and it’s hard to match the buzz when a new brewery opens nearby.

But which brewery is the best of them all in the mitten state? When it comes to a good brew, this Detroit establishment, at least according to data compiled from tons of Yelp reviews and published by the website BuzzFeed, is the best in Michigan.

Having had a few different beers in the confines of this Corktown-based Hatch Detroit winner, we can’t say we find fault with this particular choice.

So who’s the winner? Batch Brewing Company.

It’s one of the newer (but not newest) places, opening on Porter Street in 2015. That said, it’s not just the beer. They also have a “feelgood tap,” where proceeds go to local non-profits. Their food is always on point. And their open, airy beer hall has become a must-stop for beer lovers near and far.

Here is a sampling of the positive reviews from Yelp:

“With beer hall-style seating, high ceilings, and views of the brewing tanks, Batch has an airy, convivial vibe that makes you want to stay a while. To top it off, there’re also 12 beers on tap, an ever-changing menu of small plates, and available board games.” — Lynn H.

“Located in Detroit, it’s the new guy on the block. It may be the new kid but it’s already ready to donkey punch Buddy Levell’s lights out in the parking lot at three o’clock sharp.  The beers are awesome and the location is great. Admittedly I am a bit partial to Detroit these days, with its recent resurgence. But regardless…  the beer is awesome, the atmosphere is great, and the regulars are super cool.

Yelp Elite Tip – The patio gets filled up pretty quick, so arrive early and stake your claim.” – Zachary F.

“One of the best breweries I have ever been to. Every beer I sampled tasted different, which impressed me since some breweries’ beer are too similar.  The staff, Laura in particular, was so friendly and made our Detroit experience even better.

I absolutely loved learning about how they name their beers…Most of the time it’s random or a joke, such as “Man in a Loin Cloth”.  Others are intentionally named for the type of beer, “Kelly Ripa” (an IPA).

They are constantly changing their beers too, so every week there will be a new beer list.

Check this place out fo sho!!!” – Jackie M.

Cheers to the gang over at Batch. Here’s their website.
