Hello, hello, hello! Here’s a super double bonus edition of our City 5.

My weekend plans are looking promising. There is so much going on, that I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted to add to this week’s City 5. It was tough, but I figured it out.

Have a great weekend everyone.

5th Annual Michigan Burlesque Festival

Looking for some tantalizing fun this Friday night? Might I suggest the 5th Annual Michigan Burlesque Festival at the Hastings Street Ballroom at 715 Milwaukee in Detroit.

The festival will feature headliner performances by Bella Sin, Red Rum, Mr. Gorgeous, and Jeez Loueez. You will also get to see my favorite burlesque dancer Lushes LaMoan.

On Saturday they will be holding burlesque workshops. Learn everything from makeup techniques, how to twerk and jerk, and how to be fabulous. Each workshop costs $10 to attend.

It should go without saying, but these events are for those 18 and over.

Doors open at 7:00 p.m. for the Friday night performance. Tickets to the Friday night performance are $25 for general admission or $30 for VIP. They can be purchased in advance here.

Amazing Dave Opening Weekend

This weekend is the opening of the 2017/2018 Theatre season at The Planet Ant in Hamtramck. This upcoming season is the Planet Ant’s 25th season, which is amazing.

Opening up the season is an original one act play called Amazing Dave. Come find out what happens when a con man starts a doomsday cult.

Also, I should mention that this play kicks off an interesting new project by Planet Ant. The one act will represent a pilot episode for an upcoming 6 episode weekly live sitcom. This show will run on Thursday nights in the Ant Hall starting this October.

You can check out Amazing Dave on Friday and Saturday nights from September 15 through September 30.

Tickets are $10 per person. You can purchase them through the Planet Ant Theater website.
