We finally have more details about the pop up roller rink we told you about last week.
The Rainbow City Roller Rink will be open on Friday, November 30. It will be located on the first floor of 1001 Woodward downtown.
Rainbow City is part roller skating rink, party art installation and is being organized by Library Street Collective with support from Bedrock Detroit and the Quicken Loans Community Fund.
Library Street Collective tapped the artist duo of FriendsWithYou to create the art installation. It will feature a collection of inflatable sculptures that are suspended from the ceiling. The largest of the sculptures will be a 30 foot rotating head. Trippy.
The rink will be reminiscent of a carnival with the inflatable sculptures and striped rink.
Entrance to the rink itself will be free. There will be skates and lockers available.
Rainbow City Roller Rink will be open from Friday, November 30 through Sunday, January 27, 2019.
Hours: Wednesday through Sunday 2:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
