Hot off the wire, we’re hearing there’s a new thing opening in the Greektown Casino-Hotel in downtown Detroit.

The Rock Bar and Lounge will debut today, September 25 and open to the public at 3 p.m. Drink specials will be available and the first 200 guests will receive a complimentary t-shirt. Regular hours will be from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily.

The Rock Bar and Lounge is located on the lower level of the casino and replaces Asteria, which opened in late 2011.

The information provided says that they will serve up “one-of-a-kind signature cocktails” named after local Detroit streets and a large selection of beers. There also will be seven 75-inch flat-screen TVs and 26 video poker machines.

The opening of Rock Bar and Lounge is part of Greektown Casino-Hotel’s $60 million property renovation that began last year.

“Rock Bar and Lounge is the best venue in Detroit for guests to enjoy their favorite drink while playing video poker, all while watching their favorite sporting events,” said Jason Gregorec, CEO and general manager of Greektown Casino-Hotel in a statement. “We are confident this new addition to our entertainment offerings will further enhance the experience for our guests.”

Other additions or enhancements as part of the $60 million renovation include modernizing the casino’s interior, offering a new dining experience at the PRISM restaurant with an expanded menu, as well as adding 400 new slot machines and installing a state-of-the-art HVAC system for improved air quality.
