There are some new numbers out last week from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics about the number of Detroiters joining the workforce and being employed.
The most interesting part is that these numbers have increased to the highest level in 7 years.
According to the agency, 1,045 Detroit residents have gained employment since August.
Since the beginning of the year there has been an additional 6,811 Detroiters gainfully employed.
So far 2017 has one of the largest year over year gains in the past decade in terms of employment numbers.
There are now over 20,000 newly employed Detroiters since 2014, bringing the total number to 225,758.
It would be interesting to be able to dig deeper (in time as more data becomes available, we will) as to what kinds of jobs are being created and where that employment is located.
Hopefully, the upward momentum will continue to climb.
