After the success of the biergarten this past June, Pewabic is back at it with another event. This historic organization is hosting their very first Oktoberfest event on October 11th from 12:00 pm until 10:00 pm.
Pewabic artists have been busy creating a new, hand-thrown pint glass vessel that can be purchased at the event for $50. The pint glass is available in three of their special glaze colors.
Atwater Brewery will be on location with Dirty Blonde, Vanilla Java Porter, Grand Circus IPA, a seasonal beer, and Detroit Dry Cider for purchase. The cost will be $7 a pint. Pewabic’s Oktoberfest is open to all ages, however in order to drink any beer you need to be over 21. If you get hungry, you can order hot pizza from Amicci’s Pizza who will have a portable oven on-site. The proceeds from the event will go towards the Pewabic Education Studio.
As well as the Oktoberfest, there also will be a Raku party from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. where you can work with the Pewabic artists to select, decorate and fire a pot of your own. You will go home with your own Raku art piece. This hands-on experience helps to support Pewabic’s education programs that serve nearly 14,000 individuals, and this event helps support that work. Pewabic has been a Detroit landmark for more than 110 years. Their pottery is best known for the unique glazes that Mary Chase Perry Stratton created, and their work adorns many buildings and mantels across Metro Detroit and the country.
Pewabic is located at 10125 East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit, between the Indian Village neighborhood of the city and Grosse Pointe Park.
