Last night I had the opportunity to attend the grand opening of Red Dunn Kitchen in Corktown.

The restaurant is located inside of the Trumbull & Porter Hotel.

While it serves as the onsite restaurant of the hotel, you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel to dine there.

The Red Dunn offers a casual atmosphere with a full bar, dining room, event space, private dining room called “The Steak Room,” and an outdoor seating area.

The outdoor seating area is in the courtyard of the Trumble & Porter. There is a kettle fire pit and bandstand which will have live music performances through the summer.

The kitchen is ran by Executive Chef Jay Gundy who was formerly at Cork Wine Pub and Townhouse in Birmingham.

He has created a menu that focuses on local seasonal items and poultry. Think Foie Gras Stuffed Quail, Bacon wrapped Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast and Fried Chicken Roulade.

If poultry isn’t your thing there are plenty of other items on the menu that might interest you like the Red Dunn Burger and Roasted Cauliflower with Spanish Spices.

I had the opportunity to try a few of the menu items during the party. I have to say that the Parmesan Dill Popovers with Pimento Goat Cheese and the Red Dunn Burger are pretty spectacular. I would go back just for the popovers.

The Red Dunn is open daily from 6:00 a.m until 2:00 a.m. The Red Dunn is located inside the Trumbull & Porter Hotel at 1331 Trumbull Street Detroit, Michigan 38216
