Love the theatre but can’t seem to make it there? This summer, check out Grand Circus Park for an experience unlike any other. Rhythm & Stage, a unique theatrical and cultural live stage series, will return on Thursdays in July and August with high-caliber theatre and opera acts.

Performances will include acts like “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare,” the abridged version performed by Outvisible Theatre Company and a season preview from the Michigan Opera Theatre.

Each evening of outdoor entertainment starts with musical performances from 7 to 7:30 p.m. prior to the stage shows, which run until 9 p.m., unless otherwise noted.

One of the highlights of this year’s event is a public art performance titled “SeeSaw” from Wise Fool New Mexico, which combines theatre, circus, and puppetry.

Rhythm & Stage is part of Quicken Loans’ Summer in the Parks 2016 series and is free to attend.

On Thursday, July 7, A String Quartet will kick off the evening with a musical performance. Afterwards, the Outvisible Theatre Company will perform William Shakespeare’s complete works in only 97 minutes. It’s a performance for lovers of the Bard that will leave the audience helpless with laughter.

On Thursday, July 14, The Detroit Actors Theatre Company (DATC) house band will open the evening. After their performance, the DATC will perform Destination Broadway, featuring songs and dance from “Newsies,” “Wicked,” “Aida,” “Jersey Boys,” and more.
