It’s still early days in the 2018 Gubernatorial race, but it’s already beginning to be endorsement season as candidates look to shore up early support and get raise crucial money for their campaigns.

Former Michigan State Senate Democratic Leader and former Ingham County Prosecutor Gretchen Whitmer has lined up the support of three Wayne County Democrats.

In an announcement this morning, Wayne County Executive Warren Evans, Prosecutor Kym Worthy, and Sheriff Benny Napoleon have all declared support for Whitmer.

This adds to a litany of statewide Democrats in elected office, labor groups and former officials that have lined up behind Whitmer.

Looking at the field: Let’s remember we’re in early days. There are four declared candidates for the Democratic primary right now. They’re Whitmer, businessman Bill Cobbs, the former Executive Director of the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness promotion Abdul El-Sayed, and scientist/entrepreneur Shri Thanedar.
