Since 1983, the Hoedown in one form or another has been in Detroit. Started by Coleman Young’s administration, the formerly free country music festival has used Hart Plaza (a venue that’s really starting to show its age) and then most recently it turned into a ticketed event in the parking lot outside of Comerica Park.

The 34th edition of what’s now called the WYCD Hoedown, however, is headed to the suburbs.

This year, the country music event is moving to the DTE Energy Music Theatre and will be held on July 31. 20 plus bands will play and the headliners are Brad Paisley and Chris Young. It will also feature artists like Drew Baldridge, Brandy Clark, Lindsay Ell, Runaway June, Gunnar & the Grizzly Boys, Chris Lane, and Jordan Rager. Tickets for the one day event run from $29-$79, including the pre-paid parking fee. Good move? Sad see them go? Good riddance? What do you think?
