There has been an uptick in Hepatitis A cases across Southeastern Michigan, as well as some recent high-profile cases in restaurants and at Greektown Casino.

To help combat this, the Detroit Health Department for the city of Detroit is now recommending all food establishments work to get their food handlers vaccinated.

The city is launching a pop-up vaccination clinic program to provide easy and convenient access to vaccines. The first is this Tuesday, December 19, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the University of Detroit Mercy Student Union.

According to a new release, the city will be holding more of these pop-ups across the city and specifically in areas of town where there are clusters of restaurants.

The city intends that employers should pay the $40 fee to get workers vaccinated. Employees should bring their photo ID, health insurance card, and employers will be responsible for payment at $40 per employee.

The University of Detroit Mercy is located at 4001 West McNichols in Detroit.
