1. David Whitney was known as the Paul Bunyan of his time due to his success in the lumber industry, which made him one of the wealthiest men in Michigan

2. The 19 story building design was based on Chicago style skyscrapers of the day

3. When it was first build, the large atrium was home to a variety of retail shopping space, which was ultimately converted to medial and dental offices in the 1950’s

4. At one time, the structure featured cornices that gave it a Romanesque feel. However, they were removed in a later renovation in order to make the building appear more modern[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]
