This is a fun documentary out of the archives of the Detroit Historical Museum – they uploaded a 16mm film produced by the Detroit Public Schools and Ford Motor Company in 1964 of a round trip on the freighter the William Clay Ford from the Rouge Plant to it’s destination “to the north country” and back.

It’s totally 20 minutes or so of 60’s kitsch but “Great Lakes Adventure” is also quite entertaining if you’re into Great Lakes history.

Fun fact? If you want to visit the pilot house in this, it’s still around and open to the public. It’s at the Dossin Great Lakes Museum on Belle Isle.
