We’ve made it to the last City 5 of 2016. I can certainly say that I’m ready to see what great events 2017 has to offer up.

There are plenty of New Year’s Eve parties going on through out metro Detroit this Saturday. As much as I wanted to list all of them, I wanted to high light some other events happening through out the weekend.

Spike and Mike Sick and Twisted Animation Festival — Ferndale

This is the 24th anniversary of the Sick and Twisted Animation Festival at the Magic Bag. If you have never heard of Spike and Mike, they started this festival as a way to showcase all types of animation.

There have been some pretty big names that have been featured in this festival over the years like; Mike Judge, Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

There are two more showings for this years showcase on Thursday, December 28 and Friday, December 29. The doors open at 8 p.m. and I suggest you get there earlier than later because you want to be able to get a good seat.

Tickets are $7 per person, and can be purchased online. The show is 18 and over.

The Magic Bag is located at 22920 Woodward Avenue Ferndale, Michigan 48220

Noon Year’s Eve — Detroit

If you’ve got little ones at home but still want to ring in the New Year without sacrificing bed time. I suggest checking out Noon Year’s Eve this Saturday at the Detroit Historical Museum.

The Detroit Historical Museum has a ton of fun activities for kids and parents. There will be opportunities to make noise makers, write a time capsule letter, drink hot chocolate, eat cookies, and ring in the Noon Year.

The party starts at 10 a.m. and goes until 1 p.m. Admission is free, but you will need to pay for parking.

The Detroit Historical Museum is located at 5401 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48202

New Year’s Eve at the David Whitney Building — Detroit

If you’re looking for a swanky NYE party, you should check out the party at the David Whitney Building.

The party is being sponsored by HOUR Detroit, and you know they know swank.

Dance the night away on two dance floors with DJ Tom T and DJ Vince Patricola spinning the tunes. You will also be able to watch the live stream of the Motor City D drop.

Food will be provided by El Barzon. And there will be plenty of drinks to partake in, including a Champagne toast and balloon drop at midnight.

Tickets are $75 or $130. (The only difference I can see in the price is the number of drink tickets.) The party starts at 8:30 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m.

The David Whitney Building is located at 1 Park Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

Don’t worry about parking because valet is included in the price of the ticket.

New Year’s Evil Party — Hamtramck

If you have been wanting to check out the new Ant Hall over at Planet Ant, I suggest heading over to their New Years Evil Party.

There will be live music from Lily White and the Privileges and also karaoke.

Ring in the New Year with a Champagne toast and maybe give the special piñata a whack or two.

It doesn’t look like there is a cover, but they are asking for donations to help with the continued work being done at the Ant Hall.

The party starts at 7 p.m. and goes until 2 a.m. The Ant Hall is located at 2320 Caniff Avenue Hamtramck, Michigan 48212

New Year’s Day Brunch — Detroit

After partying the night away on NYE you’re going to need to get some good grub on Sunday.

There are plenty of places that have a special New Year’s Day brunch but Grand Trunk Pub is having brunch all day long. You read that right, from 10 a.m. until midnight.

Sleep in as long as you need and go to Grand Trunk for your brunch on. Oh and maybe a bit of hair of the dog.

Grand Trunk is located at 612 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

Bonus

It goes without saying that one of the best places to ring in the New Year is downtown in Campus Martius at the Motor City NYE Drop.

We already did a whole post on the event, so you can just head right over there to find out all the great stuff happening.
