There are some great events happening this weekend. I had such a hard time narrowing them down, that you’re getting two bonus events.

What can I say, sometimes I am a giver. Have a great — and fun — weekend!

40th Annual Dally in the Alley

When I think about annual events in Detroit, I can say that Dally in the Alley is probably one of the most loved. People are passionate about the Dally.

This Saturday is the 40th annual Dally in the Alley, and I can assure you that it is going to be a great time.

There will be four stages for local musicians to perform, food, drinks, and local vendors. Did I forget to mention that it is family friendly? Because it is. There is a kids fair on West Forest.

There will be five different dance and music groups showcased throughout the day. They will represent all corners of Latin America, and it will showcase the diversity of the Latin community.

The National Trust for Historic Preservation’s HOPE Crew will be at the Fort doing some work on the buildings. They are looking for volunteers to help out. Even if you don’t have any experience they will help you learn basic skills. Just remember to wear close toed shoes.

After all of that hard work there will be a block party with food and music.

Light Up The Cabin Garden Party

Looking to do a bit of good for the only existing log cabin inside of Detroit’s city limits? I’m talking about the Palmer Log Cabin inside of Palmer Park of course.

The People of Palmer Park will be hosting the 3rd Annual Light UP The Cabin Garden Party this Sunday, September 10.

The garden party will be held at an undisclosed 1929 Tudor that looks out onto the Detroit Golf Club. Guests will be able to tour parts of the home during the garden party.

There will be food, a wine bar and a silent auction.

Tickets are $75 per person. It’s pricey, but remember this is going to a great cause.

Location: You’ll get the exact location once you purchase your tickets.

POP + Offworld Grand Opening Celebration

There is something nostalgic about popping in a few quarters into an old arcade game and trying to get that high score.

On Friday you will be able to do just that at the new POP+Offworld Arcade upstairs from the Checker Bar.

The joint is part pizza place, bar, and arcade.

They will be throwing a Grand Opening party on Friday, September 8. There will be pizza from Pop Pizza, music, and raffles.

Motor City Soul Stomp

You should know the drill by now. I write about The Motor City Soul Club’s Soul Stomp at The Marble Bar every month.

Dan Austin, Brad Hales and Erica Aytes will be slinging the vinyl throughout the night. The three of them will be joined by Eric Silvenis and Matt Strickland for the evening.

Like always there is no cover, so bring those dancing shoes and get moving.
