If you’ve ever wanted to take your pooch to the pool and benefit other dogs at the same time, this might just be your ticket.

The Detroit Parks and Recreation Department is hosting their 2nd annual ‘Dog Days of Summer Cool Down Pool “Pawty”’ on Saturday, September 9 at Brennan Pool.

According to the city of Detroit, the largest and only outdoor pool will close for the season on Labor Day – but as a last hurrah, they’re inviting the dogs who will also be able to enjoy the water.

The event will be a fundraiser to support the Detroit Dog Rescue, the only “No Kill” shelter in Detroit.

The $10 entry fee will help defray the costs of medical assistance, foster care, rescue, immunization and more, according to a release.

The event will be broken into little and large dogs.

The first session is 10-11:30 a.m. and for dogs 30 pounds and under.

Larger dogs over 30 lbs. are welcome from Noon – 1:30.

As a bonus, a Doggie Swimsuit Pageant will take place during each session. Participants are encouraged to pre-register at https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Detroit/DPRDPAWTY.

On-site registration will also be available.

All dogs must have an up-to-date shot record and a current license.  Licenses may be obtained through the Detroit Animal Care and Control before or during the event.
