We’ve written about Spain Elementary school before – the Detroit public school is in horrible condition. Neglect has left it with an unusable gym, outdated technology, cold rooms and much more that’s simply not working.
Ellen DeGeneres highlighted the cause of Spain Elementary on a pre-taped segment of her show that airs at 3 p.m. today, a moment that just gives you goosebumps as she, Justin Bieber, and Lowe’s is supplying $500,000 “in technology, materials for renovations around the campus, and funding for additional staff,” and tapped into the generosity of Justin Bieber, who will be donated $1 from every ticket of his upcoming show at the Palace of Auburn Hills to the school.

It’s a hard road at Spain Elementary. There, teachers make copies so students can do homework.
“That gets expensive, so we also have some of our parents volunteer to make copies for us,” Morgan said in the video. “But we don’t care, because we love our babies.”
Each teacher and staff member also received a $100 Visa gift card from Lowe’s. The Rochester store will be the point on providing materials and support for the repairs that will begin in April or May and wrap up by the end of the year.
There’s also a place where you can help. After all, the school needs millions in improvements. DeGeneres has set up a GoFundMe page that has already raised nearly $16,000 in four hours (as of this writing) and the goal is to raise $5 million.
There’s an amazing school in Detroit that’s getting national attention right now and needs your help. At Spain Elementary Middle School, many of the students are underprivileged and homeless, but that’s not their only obstacle. Almost all of their technology doesn’t work, their entire roof is falling apart and their gym is completely shut down.
