Hey friends, Jer here.
I hope you're enjoying your summer in Detroit. I was out at Roosevelt Park yesterday in Corktown. The sun was shining and the flowers were in bloom.

Although I plan to be in the Windy City this weekend, something you should check out is the first Chinatown Block Party.

On Peterboro just west of Cass, the Saturday event runs from 12p-8p. [Website]
As someone just old enough to have dined at the legendary Chung's right before it closed in 2000 — and my parents bounced around the area too — I love to see the energy of this area coming back.
There already are a number of businesses nearby like Craig's Coffee, Meantime, Canine to Five, the Detroit Shipping Company and more that are great to check out.
On Saturday there will be music, lion and dragon dances, book readings, a movie about Chinatowns, art projects, and games like mahjong. You can also learn about the history of Detroit’s Chinatown and take tours.
