Here’s a great accolade for one of Michigan’s favorite spots.
The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island was named the best historic resort for 2015 by the Historic Hotels of America. The 390 room is hotel is a whopping 128 years old.
Historic Hotels of America is an official program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It accepts only member hotels that are at least 50 years old that have either been designated as national historic landmarks or that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.
There were 12 winners across the United States in a selection of categories.
However, if you want to get in on the action this season, you better it do it quick. There are a couple of fun activities still in store this year.
The annual “Somewhere in Time” weekend celebrating the 1980 classic film is on October 16-17 and features actress Jane Seymour, who starred in the movie.
And the season ends November 2 after a first for the hotel: A Halloween weekend featuring a Halloween Bash and Haunted Trail.
