Hey there everyone! The weekend is back, and I don’t know about you but I’m ready for it.
Just a quick reminder that this is the second weekend of the Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekends and the final weekend of the Michigan Central Station Winter Festival. Both are great events, but I already talked to you about them last week.

House of Vans Pop Up
The House of Vans is popping up this week at the Jefferson School in Midtown, and it sounds freaking awesome.
There will be skateboarding, art installations, workshops, and live music.
Hours: Friday 4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Saturday 2:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m, Sunday 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Zingerman’s Visit Monger’s Provisions
I haven’t made it over to the new location of Monger’s Provisions in Midtown, but I think I will remedy that this weekend.
Zingerman’s Creamery will be bringing its pimento cheese, cream cheese and liptauer for everyone to try.
You had me at cheese.

St. Charles Winter Gala
Want to check out the re-developed Saint Charles Residences? You have a chance this Saturday night during the Saint Charles Winter Gala.
Come for the Champagne but stay for the art show and live music.
There will be hors devours, desserts and drinks.
The event is a charity fundraiser for the non-profit Alternative For Girls, so bring your checkbook for the silent auction. Do people even use checkbooks anymore? Anyway.
Tickets are $50 a person, but remember proceeds are going to a great cause. Alternatives for Girls help homeless and high-risk girls and young women.

Black Bottom Street View Exhibit Opening
This Saturday is the opening of a very important exhibit at the Main Branch of the Detroit Public Library.
The Black Bottom Street View exhibit re-creates the Black Bottom neighborhood of Detroit by using photos from the Burton Histroic Collection.
For those who are not familiar with Black Bottom, it was a neighborhood on the East side of Detroit that was bounded by Gratiot Avenue, Brush Street, Vernor Highway, and the Grand Trunk railroad tracks. It was a predominantly African American neighborhood.
The City of Detroit razed the entire neighborhood in the 1960’s to saying it was trying to eliminate “Urban Blight”. The city then replaced the neighborhood with the Chrysler Freeway and Lafayette Park.
I’m so glad that this exhibit it finally open because it is important for us to remember this neighborhood and what happened.
The opening event is free to attend. You will be able to participate in a panel discussion and conversation about the history of Black Bottom.

Jazz Jams at the Sugar House
Maybe you’ve had a hectic weekend and just want to unwind a bit with a nice cocktail and some jazz music. That sounds nice actually.
Nicole New and friends will be at the Sugar House on Sunday night to perform some jazz music.
There will be a special menu of featured cocktails.
When: Sunday 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
