Michigan is full of women business owners. In fact, the city of Detroit is an anomaly with one out of two small businesses are owned by a woman.

Meet the buyersThere are still some gender gaps and issues women business owners realisticly must face to grow as a recent panel on WDET addressed, but there is a community of support here to help.

This month The Center for Empowerment and Economic Development (CEED) is hosting the largest women’s business conference in Michigan on September 29 & 30 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. The organization works to connect women business owners to the financing, contract opportunities and training they need to grow.

The 14th Annual Great Lakes Women’s Business Conference usually represents more than 1,000 women business owners. The event will feature keynote speaker Andrew Yang of Venture For America, several workshops, and a Women’s Business Showcase event.
