It looks like Megatron is powering down, if a report out tonight from ESPN is correct.

The Lions wide receiver has been an integral part of the Detroit Lions since his drafting in 2007.

The report is from Adam Schefter, who says that Johnson told head coach Jim Caldwell of his plans on the day after the regular season ended. According to the report, Johnson told quarterback Matthew Stafford as well as teammate Stephen Tulloch.

The 6’5″ Johnson, 30, is a five time pro-bowler and this was his sixth consecutive 1,000 yard reception, and seventh of his career. He also is the Lions’ all-time franchise leader in receptions with 731 and receiving yards (a whopping 11,619).

His teammates have taken to social media in the wake of the news.

For what it’s worth, the Detroit Lions re-shared a statement on their Facebook page tonight originally from January 6 saying that he’s still considering retirement.
