Mitch Albom and S.A.Y. Detroit distributed checks totaling over one million dollars to 20 area charities on Thursday. The money comes from donations raised at Albom’s fourth annual S.A.Y. Mitch Albom just opened Detroit Water Ice, a frozen dessert shop, on prime downtown Detroit real estate in the Compuware building that used to house Ben and Jerry’s.
