Hey friends, Jer here.
Thought I'd say hi before the weekend and share a place I really enjoyed – plus, a few things to go do (other than the Woodward Dream Cruise and the Detroit Lions pre-season game... I'm betting you know about those).
A little housekeeping before we get started. We have a simple, 3-question survey to learn more about you to serve you. It would really help as we take this newsletter to the next step. So hop on over here and lend a hand.

🥮 This week I had the chance to stop by the almost-brand-new Warda Pâtisserie on McClellan, just off of East Jefferson. And I gotta say, it's kind of like a dream.
You pull up and there's a bevy of plants all along the sidewalk. There's ramps up to the wide porch, which has a seating area that wraps around to the side.

The pastries here are a bit unique. I've been to their spot in Midtown before, so I knew what to expect — but my colleague Big Lucci had his horizons opened a bit.

A good on-ramp would be the Halwah Chocolate Chunk Cookie. Excellent chocolate but also has a sesame seed vibe. Quite good.

This place is focused on local ingredients, using the baked goods having flavors from around the world and from place like Algeria, France & Asia.

I had an Iced Chicory Oat Milk latte (which was excellent), and my colleague had the Lavender Rose, pictured above.

It's like a parlor of pastries, with ample seating despite the small size.

It's cute and creative without being over the top.
I will be back — and if you want to set your directions to 1286 McClellan in Detroit, you might just have a relaxing and tasty time. [Instagram]

🗓️ Where to go
One of the things I've been doing lately is a weekly segment on WJR mornings (760AM) in the 8a hour sharing where to go around Metro Detroit. I pull together two or three things, so you'll find links to them here plus some additional ones that don't make it to air.
0️⃣ Tonight (Friday) The Phoenix and Cielo Rooftop Detroit are hosting "Zero Proof on the Roof," what they’re calling Detroit's first alcohol-free nightlife event. There will DJ music, mocktails, tastings from B. Nektar & Ted Segers, plus panoramic city views. This 21+ and free event offers a substance-free environment where everyone can enjoy an elevated nightlife experience without alcohol from 9p to 1a. It's at 600 West Lafayette in Detroit.
🧘♀️ Saturday morning: Head over to Barkside Detroit for Rescue Puppy Yoga! This kicks off at 9:45a at Barkside's location on Kercheval Avenue. For just one ticket, you'll enjoy a 45-minute all-levels yoga class surrounded by adorable rescue puppies looking for forever homes. Your choice of coffee or a mimosa included. The money goes to support animal rescue missions by Moyo Village. [Eventbrite]

⛳️ On Saturday or Sunday, go over to Cranbrook Art Museum for their unique artist-designed mini golf course! "Cranbrook on the Green" has creative, art-inspired holes set on the beautiful museum grounds.
Hours are 10a to 5p, with last tickets sold at 4:15p. At just $15 for adults and $8 for kids under 12, this gets you into the museum, too.
Grab a coffee and snack at FIKA Café while you're there. The course is located at the Knoll Walkway next to Triton Pool - just follow signs to the Art Museum parking lot. FYI, this isn't the only weekend they're doing this. Be sure to check out the website. [Cranbrook]
🎙️ On the show
We were very busy this week with insightful conversations that matter.
Sam Abuelsamid, VP of Market Research at Telemetry and host of Wheel Bearings podcast, delivered an eye-opening discussion about the truth about electric vehicles and why American automakers need a solid electric strategy regardless of Washington politics.
We also cover exciting developments like the new Detroit City FC stadium planned for Southwest Detroit. The details on that came out this week.
For those interested in local politics, don't miss our conversation with Sam Robinson on Detroit's political landscape, with valuable and unfiltered insight.
Each episode provides a unique view into Detroit's evolving story. Don’t miss another episode and follow us on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or wherever you listen to shows.
Thanks so much for reading! Don't forget to take that super-simple survey to help us make better stuff.
Have an excellent weekend!
