A program that brings a smile to art lovers across Southeast Michigan is returning for a 10th year.

The Detroit Institute of Arts Inside|Out program puts high-quality reproductions from the DIA’s collection to outdoor places across the region.

The first round of art will be on view in four communities from April to July, and eight others from July to October.

And each place gets more than one piece of art, of course. They’ll get anywhere between 7 to 12 images, within walking or biking distance.

Spring Installations, happening at various times this week:

Lake Orion – Installation is April 10 at 8 a.m.

Clawson – Installation is April 10 at 1 p.m.

Wayne State University – Installation is April 11 at 8 a.m.

North Corktown, Detroit – Installation is April 12 at 8 a.m.

Summer Installations:

Macomb Corners Park

Shelby Township

Wyandotte

Warren

Oakland County Municipal Campus, Pontiac

Oakland Community College

Belle Isle, Detroit

Detroit RiverWalk

A couple of other neat things you should know.

The DIA is working with Oakland Community College to place art at all five of OCC’s campuses, and the one I’m most excited about is a September bike tour leaving from the DIA to the Inside|Out exhibition on none other than Belle Isle.
