I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the dog days of summer are slipping through our fingers like melting ice cream, and they’ll be gone before we know it.

This week I noticed several events involving Cider or other Fall-ish things, but I’ve decided to spare everyone the pre-emptive winter anxiety and focus on squeezing the last bits of juice out of our sweet summer fruit before it turns brown.

Detroit City Art Walk – Friday And Saturday – Corktown, Detroit

First up we have The Detroit City Art Walk this Friday and Saturday in the Historic Corktown district. The two-day event features a variety of both local and international artists displaying their work in a variety of mediums. Strollers can expect to see glass and metal sculpturing, fashion, drawing, painting, watercolors, wood, poster art, and more!

The event takes place throughout Corktown’s vast selection of bars, cafes, clubs and restaurants along Michigan Ave, as well as on Navin field, where there will be even more art, plus DJs kicking out the jams all day.

The event is free to attend, so grab the family and enjoy all the sights and sounds in one of the city’s blossoming neighborhoods.

Belle Isle Summer Saturdays – Saturday, 10 a.m -3 p.m. – Belle Isle, Detroit

On Saturday, cruise down to Belle Isle Summer Saturdays, also known as B.L.I.S.S.

This action packed event is free to enter with your Michigan Recreation Pass, and offers an array of free and paid activities for the whole family to enjoy such as yoga, wildlife hikes, outdoor games, and more! If you don’t have a recreation pass, you can just park on the mainland and walk or ride your bike across to the island to avoid paying for entry. The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 3 p.m., so get down early to take full advantage of a beautiful day on Belle Isle.

Detroit SummerFest Finale – Saturday, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. – Capitol Park Detroit 

After your blissed out day on Belle Isle, head over to Capitol Park for The final event of the Quicken Loans Summer in the Parks Downtown Entertainment Series.

For just $10, you’ll enjoy food samples from area restaurants, and the musical styling’s of legendary house DJ Chez Damier, and native Detroit DJ Marissa Guzman.

The event runs from 7-11 p.m., so dust off your dance moves and go get down in the park this Saturday!

WDET 101.9FM Summer Dance Party! – Saturday, 8 p.m. -11 p.m. – New Center Park, Detroit

If you feel like doubling down on some outdoor dancing this Saturday, then swing by New Center Park on Saturday for the WDET Summer Dance Party! The event will close out another successful year of summer programming for the park, and it’s shaping up to be quite the finale.

The event is free will feature WDET’s own Chris Campbell, who will premier his new project, The CAMBEAUX EXPERIENCE, which is a combination of creative thematic style mixes, dance presentations, percussive soundscapes and audio/visual concepts that will groove, entertain and inspire.

Detroit Artist Bazaar – Sunday 12 p.m. – 6 p.m. – Tangent Gallery, Detroit

On Sunday, check out the Detroit Artist Bazaar at The Tangent Gallery Detroit.

Presented by Detroit Rummage, the event will feature more than 30 local artists from across a myriad of mediums selling their original art. The FREE event runs from 12-6 p.m. and there will be soft drinks and beers available for purchase.
