Hey there everyone! I hope that you all had a great Valentine’s Day.

We celebrated with BonBonBon, a Kids in the Hall box set, and Cool Critters.

Anyway, this weekend is shaping up to be pretty cool, if you know what I’m saying. It might be cold, but at least the Weather Channel isn’t calling for snow or Polar Vortex temps.

There’s plenty of things happening this weekend, so let’s get down to business.

P.S. Don’t forget that this is the second weekend for the Dirty Show. If you are feeling frisky I suggest you grab those tickets here.

Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekends

So, this weekend is your last chance to hit Campus Martius during the Quicken Loans Winter Blast Weekends. If you haven’t made it down there yet for the three other weekends, now is your chance.

If flying through the air for 300 feet sounds like a fun time now is your chance, because the Zip Line is back.

Also, ice skating is free this weekend.

When: Friday  4:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. and  Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Campus Martius Park is located at 800 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

Valentine’s Beer and Bon Pairing

I don’t know if you have caught on or not…but I really love BonBonBon. Like, a lot. It has become a joke around the office that if you want me to do anything for you all you have to do is give me some Bons.

This weekend the Hamtramck chocolate shop is partnering with Eastern Market Brewing Company to bring you all beer and chocolates. If you and your Valentine like both of those things then this is the event for you.

Not only can you try the beer and bons pairings….EMBC have created a new beer that is made from Bons.

When: Friday 12:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 a.m., and Sunday 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Eastern Market Brewing Company is located at 2515 Riopelle Detroit, Michigan 48207

Heartbreaks and Mixtapes: A Valentine’s Day Party

So, the Standby is throwing a little 90’s Valentine’s Day party over the weekend.

Oh, haven’t you heard that the 90’s are hip again? I mean…everything old is new again, right?

I digress.

The Standby will be playing all of the great songs about love from Mixtapes to Heartbreaks.

There will be a special limited menu that includes drinks paired with top 90’s hits.

You can make reservations for the Standby here. I suggest doing just that because it’s a popular spot.

When: Friday and Saturday 5:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.

The Standby is located at 225 Gratiot Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48226

The 2019 Oscar Shorts Program at the Detroit Film Theatre

The Academy Awards will be here before you know it, so why not go checkout all of the short animation and live action short films that have been nominated this year.

The Detroit Film Theatre inside the Detroit Institute of Arts will be showing the films through February 28.

You should probably pick up your tickets early because these shows will sell out.

When: Friday through Sunday multiple show times.

Where: DFT Auditorium is located inside the DIA 5200 Woodward Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48202

Detroit Boat Show

It might still be winter…but it’s always summer in my heart.

Saturday kicks off the 61st annual Detroit Boat Show at Cobo Center. The show runs through Sunday, February 24.

Even if you aren’t in the market for a boat, it might still be nice to pretend that it is summer and that Lake St. Clair is filled with boats and fish flies. Oh wait…scratch the fish flies.

Anyway, there are plenty of things to do besides looking at all of the boats, like fishing seminars and boat simulators.

There will also be live sharks. It’s not really my jam…but if you like sharks there will be live demonstrations.

Tickets for the Detroit Boat Show are $13 for ages 13 and over.

When: Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Sunday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Cobo Center is located at 1 Washington Boulevard Detroit, Michigan 48226
