I swear, I blinked and September was over. Where has this month gone? I can’t believe that Monday is October.

The weather has taken a turn for being more chilly and the days are getting shorter. I know my toddler is having a hard time getting use to not being able to go outside for a bike ride after dinner.

There is a ton to do this weekend. So much so that I needed to add two bonus events.

Lets get this show on the road shall we?

Avenue Q at the Hilberry Theatre

I don’t know if you can tell or not, but I really love musicals. Like, a lot.

Wayne State Theatre will be performing the Tony Award Winning Broadway musical, Avenue Q at the Hilberry Theatre. Performances started on September 21 but you have plenty of time to catch a show since it runs until October 7. There are shows all weekend.

Avenue Q is one of my favorite shows. It’s funny, crass, and the songs are really fun to sing. Plus there are puppets and Gary Coleman.

There might be puppets in the show, but this show is absolutely not for children. There are adult themes in the show, so if you have kids get a baby sitter and have fun.

Tickets are $28 unless you are a WSU student, staff member, alumni or senior. You can buy them here.

When: Multiple dates and times

Where: Hilberry Theatre 4743 Cass Avenue Detroit, Michigan 48201

Comerica Park Perks

The Tiger’s might not have had the best season this year, but that doesn’t mean that we can still support our team.

This weekend is the final series of the season, and Comerica Bank will be hosting a Park Perks season finale at Comerica Park this Saturday.

This family friendly event will give guests a chance to go behind the scenes for a tour of the park. They will also get to ride the carousel and Fly Ball Ferris wheel.

You can even try your hand at pitching or hitting in the pitch booth and batting cages.

There will also be complementary face painting and drawings during the event.

Tiger’s Alumni Dave Rozema and Craig Monroe will be having a meet and greet. You’ll also have a chance to meet PAWS, but if you’ve got a kid like mine you might want to avoid the Tiger’s mascot.

Lunch will be provided.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger. You can purchase tickets here. The proceeds will go toward Read to a Child and Downtown Boxing Gym.
