Hey friends, Jer here.
I'll keep it short and sweet — we're up to a couple things you may want to be part of.
Saturday afternoon (August 9) from 3p-6p we're having a party and live podcast event at the Old Miami!
The Old Miami is one of my favorite spots. It has a fun backyard, a dive bar interior, and surrounded by Detroit soul. The event is free to attend, and thanks to Johnnie Walker there will be limited drink samples available.
This particular event will be for ages 21 and up.
The live show portion will have some fun games and talk about a brand new thing we're launching at Daily Detroit to connect the people of our city and region with the best places that are here.
Plus, it's the weekend of my birthday. So there's that. RSVP free on [Eventbrite] or [Facebook]
Tonight is primary election night for a number of local races across Michigan, including the city of Detroit.
We're doing a livestream on YouTube from our studio at TechTown starting about 7:45p tonight. You can make it so you get notified on YouTube here.
We're not just covering the results, but talking all things Detroit as we learn who the finalists will be for Detroit's Mayor (as well as other offices and some ballot things across the region).
Me and Norris Howard will be locked in, along with friends of the show and guests. For part of the stream, Norris will take us hopping around to various campaign events.
We don't take ourselves too seriously, so we hope to have some fun and encourage more local participation.
After all, turnout according to the Detroit City Clerk is expected be between 13%-18%.
If you still are looking to vote, here's a find your mayoral candidate interactive by Outlier Media, candidate questions for many offices by Citizen Detroit, and use Detroit Votes to find your polling place.
Anyway, come on by virtually from 7:45p on, join the chat and let's get into it!
I've gotta get into show prep now, so thanks to our members on Patreon for supporting us, thanks for reading — and we'll talk soon.
