Having fun and doing good go hand in hand here in Detroit. One such way to get involved is this weekend, as the folks from Batch Brewing Company will be hosting a variety of Feelgood Tap beers (that’s where they donate a portion of the proceeds of every beer) to raise money for the revitalization of Dean Savage Memorial Park.

The biergarten will run all this weekend and also celebrate the launch of a Patronicity fundraising campaign aimed at creating a fun, safe, and inclusive space for all residents and visitors to Corktown. The cool thing about a Patronicity crowdfunding campaign is that for each dollar that is raised, it will be matched through the Public Spaces Community Places grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

So, one Feelgood beer = twice the good deeds! Not a bad deal.

The weekend is a pop-up version of the future vision of the park. The final park will include the biergarten, a dog park, basketball courts to replace the shuffleboard courts, bike parking, and organizers say will still retain the relaxation / zen garden feel. The intention is to make the park more usable by locals, tourists, and folks that already utilize the space.

On top of that, they’re intentionally working to keep the space safe for all people, including the homeless that rest there.

Here are the hours of Biergarten:
Friday, June 10: 4pm – 10pm
Saturday, June 11: 11am – 10pm
Sunday, June 12: 12pm – 4pm

Ok, but that’s not all, friends.

Metropolis Cycles, a bicycle and bike repair shop on Michigan avenue, will be leading a bike ride that ends with beers at the Dean Savage Park Biergarten on Sunday. The Facebook event is here but basically the skinny is that it’s a 10-15 mile meandering bike ride kicking off on Sunday at noon from their bike shop and ending at Batch Brewery.

There’s also a big ‘ol community yard sale happening Saturday and Sunday called “Reconnect Corktown.” So grab something cool for your house, ride your bike, drink some beer, and do good deeds all while you’re at it.

Batch Brewing Company is at 1400 Porter Street in Detroit.
