The historic Avenue of Fashion is going to get some new swagger thanks to a new mixed-use development called “7.Liv.” Developer Bagley Forest Properties, LLC plans to rehab the former B. Siegel Department Store building at the corner of Seven Mile and Livernois. Two buildings next door to the old department store, including an old Revco pharmacy, will also be demolished and incorporated into the larger structure. The parcel size (not the entire project) will, according to a notice sign poste...

SNEAK PEEK: New Narrow Way Cafe Is On The Way To Opening

One of the neatest areas of town is the Avenue of Fashion. If you don’t know about it, you should. It has a ton of history. We just did a big list over here. So when we saw that Bucharest Grill, an establishment that started in 2006 with one downtown location and has expanded it’s garlicy empire outward, is opening a fourth location, well, it had to be shared. The new location, with an exact open date yet to be determined, will be on Detroit’s Avenue of Fashion up on Livernois between 7 and 8 mile roads. This new fourth spot will join three ot...

Bike Lanes, Other Changes Are Being Tested On Livernois ‘Avenue of Fashion’

The City of Detroit is conducting a demonstration project on a roughly half-mile stretch of Livernois Avenue to test the idea of calming traffic, installing bike lanes and making other improvements to give a boost to businesses in the city’s so-called “Avenue of Fashion.” Crews have installed orange barrels, temporary signage and rubber crosswalk mats, with lines temporarily painted on the pavement to mark bike lanes and a barrier from the parking lanes, which take up one of two lanes of traff...

Avenue of Fashion gets an LED makeover

On Wednesday, the Greater Wayne County Economic Development Corp. announced that roughly 160 LED lights will be installed in the Avenue of Fashion district in northwest Detroit. The installation is the result of a $106,000 grant from the group, who believes that the improvement to the neighborhood will help improve safety and drive more traffic to the businesses there. The project will be managed by University Commons. The lights will be manufactured by Detroit America’s Green Line LLC and i...
